Mara Anderson

Mara is the new Practice Manager for AHP Lakeshore. She is a very energetic, enthusiastic and passionate person. Mara is the kind of person who loves to give 100% in everything she does. If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right!

Mara started her career in veterinary medicine in 2006 as an ACA at Morningside Animal Clinic while she was in the Veterinary Technician program at Seneca College. She graduated in 2007 with high honours and a spot on the Dean’s list. In 2009, the owners of Morningside Animal Clinic opened Toronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital, and she transferred there as a surgery technician. Over the years, Mara has worked in almost every department of the hospital, but mainly in Surgery, Neurology, Diagnostic Imaging and Anesthesia. She found her passion in anesthesia and went on to obtain her Veterinary Technician Specialty in Anesthesia and Analgesia in 2019. She spent the next three years as the Lead Technician in Surgery and Anesthesia and took on various other responsibilities, including the position of anesthesia coordinator for the whole hospital. She is now proud to lead the team at Lakeshore Animal Health Partners.

Outside of the veterinary world, she is married to the love of her life, who is a passionate and supportive partner. She is the mother of two awesome children, a daughter and a son. Her family also consists of two senior dogs Summer, a 14-year-old pointer and Walter, a 9-year-old lab. Both dogs were working dogs who had to retire due to health issues.

When not at work, Mara loves being outdoors. She enjoys hiking, swimming, camping, and working out. She is also a volunteer firefighter. This experience has enriched her life in a way she never knew she could feel. Mara loves serving her community, and she really enjoys the adrenaline rush of responding to emergencies. In short, Mara is a very busy person, but she likes it that way!
