Dentistry & Oral Surgery Department at Lakeshore Animal Health Partners in Mississauga
Just like us, our pets need to take exceptional care of their teeth and oral cavity to remain healthy. Lakeshore Animal Health Partners is excited to provide veterinary oral care by our board-certified veterinary dentist and oral surgeon.
While our service provides a full oral assessment, tooth-by-tooth examination and full mouth radiographs and cleaning to all patients, many of which will need extractions; it is not limited to this.
We also offer advanced endodontics (root canal treatments, vital pulp therapy), orthodontic therapy for malocclusions, advanced periodontal surgery, jaw fracture and maxillofacial trauma repair as well as treatment of oral tumours (maxillectomy, mandibulectomy with and without reconstruction).
Our Dentistry & Oral Surgery Department works closely with all the services at Lakeshore Animal Health Partners to ensure your dog or cat receives the highest level of care. A team-based approach to each pet’s care is crucial for their best outcome.
All procedures performed by the dentistry and oral surgery service require general anesthesia, and we are delighted to have a board-certified anesthesiologist overseeing this for all our patients.
When it comes to oral tumours, if they are malignant, these pets will also be seen by our board-certified oncologist to ensure we have the best treatment plan in place. While surgical treatment is almost always recommended, there may be cases in which this is not the best option for your pet; and often adjuvant therapy (chemotherapy and/or radiation) will be recommended. Our department also works closely with the surgery department as more than one surgeon may be required depending on the location, size, and diagnosis of your pet’s oral tumour.
Rest assured that regardless of the reason your pet is seeing our Dentistry & Oral Surgery service, a team-based approach will be taken to ensure all options are offered and you can be part of the treatment plan decision-making.
